All three girls have been sick in the last 3 weeks, starting with Kendall, then Samantha, and now Sydney. Sydney is in the hospital with an upper respiratory infection and we hope that she comes home in time for her 1st birthday on Thursday. Samantha and Kendall miss her at home. She is doing well except when she is sleeping her saturations in oxygen drop below a 90 which the doctors do not like. She will have to improve her levels in oxygen while sleeping before she can come back home. She is receiving respiratory treatment with albuterol to open up her airways and also steroid treatment. Sydney and Samantha receive synagis shots every month for RSV but I guess this is the other 40-45% of respiratory illnesses. She has bronchiolitis which is a common illness of the respiratory tract. The tiny airways (bronchioles) become inflamed, they swell and fill with mucous, making breathing difficult.
I will stay with her tonight at the hospital again.
