Hearing Test-Sydney
Sydney had a hearing test at Children's last week and she failed in her left ear. This is the ear that had unexplained fluid and then she had an ear tube put in last November. The tube is now over the ear canal. I was instructed that she had a lot of hard wax in her ear and to get her ears cleaned out. I took her to the ENT Specialy Care of MN today and the doctor that put in her ear but cleaned out her ear and there was a lot of wax. However, she had another hearing test today and she failed again in her left ear. The doctor told me that with the wax she had in her ear there is no way she would have passed. We now have to schedule a sedated ABR test and wait for the results. It is possible that the ear tube could be an issue over the ear canal but the doctor cannot pull it out because he does not want to damage her ear. So, it is either the ear tube over the canal or she has some hearing loss in her left ear. Hopefully, we will be able to get her scheduled soon for the ABR test. If she has some loss, she will more than likely have a hearing aid in that ear. The right ear is functioning correctly with no issues.
